With neither complaints nor sighs, the Chinese peasants, however, tell generations of endless and unchanging helplessness. Witness of Chinese Peasants is a photo series taken by Hou Yimin, who was awarded Creative Talent Grand Prize for Project Work: the Living Status of Chinese Peasants Today in 2005 Pingyao International Photography Exhibition.

This series of photographic work are a result of Hou's ten years' close contact with the grass root peasant life in the Chinese countryside, and a revelation of the typical living status of the 900 million Chinese peasants.
Hou Yimin's Peasans Images aims
to present the real living status of Chinese peasants in contemporary Chinese society;
to hold exhibitions both at home and abroad to display Chinese peasants' dignity, desire, and sorrow;
to trigger endeavours in promoting social equality and eliminating poverty;
to establish a Fund to provide financial supports for Children health and elementary education in Chinese rural areas.

This website just manages to display a small proportion of Hou's peasants Images and we are sorry for the photo quality which is harmed by severe compression. If you want to know more about Hou's work, please tell us via email: yimin.hou@gmail.com..
